The color of Lydia's world

Friday, December 15, 2006

Tomorrow morning we are boarding a plane and (in the words of Lydia) flying from "orange Czech Republic to yellow America" -- their respective colors on our map. When I ask Lydia who we will see in America, Andrea's cat, Oscar, and Grandma Verbrugge's cat, Daisy, top the list. But don't worry grandparents... We (the adults) are excited to see YOU! ;-) So think of us tomorrow as we traverse the friendly skies. Hopefully Mr. Marcus will be quite oblivious to the experience and Miss Lydia will be as compliant and self-entertaining as is possible in her little nearly three-year-old world.

We look forward with great anticipation to spending time with as many of our friends and family as possible. We will be in Maryland for the first five days of our trip, and on to Iowa for the remaining nine. It will be the first time most of our family will meet Marcus and that they have seen Lydia in a year.

So Merry Christmas (Veselý Vánoce) to all, whether this side of the ocean or the other! With love and wishes for a wonderful holiday season as we celebrate Jesus' birth.

I am sure we will not get to see you when you arrive in Yellow America, but I hope you will have a wonderful time here! Have a safe trip!

What's the deal here? Does Lydia not want to see Aunt Robin's cat? Or has she been warned that Peaches is not very nice to children (or adults, for that matter) and therefore does not belong on the list with the rest of the family cats?!?!?
