Metamorphosis

met-uh-mawr-fuh-sis:
1. Biology. a profound change in form from one stage to the next in the life history of an organism
2. any complete change in appearance, character, circumstances, etc.

In honor of my 2nd Wisconsin winter I purchased a fluffy red hat. I haven't owned a hat since I was approximately 8 years old and my 3rd grade teacher wouldn't let me go out for recess without one.

When dropping Lydia off at preschool this morning, the thermometer read 9 degrees F.... right now it "feels like" 0 degrees F. Having lived here for a little over a year, I have come to realize that death comes quickly to those who deny the reality of Wisconsin winter. Gone are the days of worrying what my hair looks like. Honestly, if the hat doesn't destroy my best grooming intentions, the 45 mph wind will. I may as well take the reins in determining the exact moment of destruction.

I fear that I've embarked on a slippery slope. One where, ulitimately, I dress up in my Green Bay Packers sweatshirt for a nice dinner out... and order *gasp* deep fried cheese curds and brats.

Fluffy Red Hat, you have set the wheels of metamorphosis in motion.

I am cracking up! I can't wait to see you in your cute little hat. I have yet to give in to the hat -- because I look SO awful in them, but it may not be long before I give up and follow you. I'm sick of being sick in the winter. sigh.

Good for you! Soon you will do as I and find yourself wearing the hat in the house when you are chilled. The principle is...don't let that heat escape out the top of your head!

Re your when in Rome do as the Romans do theory:
Ann-marie you are so funny!
Packers really aren't such bad folks are they? and the fluffy red hat is really kind cute but as for the deep fried cheese curds, not so sure. Maybe I should reserve judgement.

After going through a long cold winter, we really appreciate spring more than the average bear!

I would like to see a full picture of you in the hat. You know, to give us all a better idea of what the hat means. And how important it is to you....

I have to admit, my mother was and is right - heat really does escape out the top of your head. I have a red fleece hat that I wear to bed! Hey, when the head of your bed is on a north wall, and you have no headboard, you have to do something! I think not only does heat escape through your head, but cold creeps in - I can't sleep without it!

How did you get away with no hat in Prague? Maybe I had to have one because we moved here from Charlotte...

Oh, my, goodness! I cannot believe you got a red fluffy hat!! When I saw the picture, at first I thought it was atop Lydia's head. :-) Way to go, you bold you!
