I didn't have much planned for this morning while Lydia was in school so Marcus and I just headed to the local expat hangout, Sea World. No, not the 'Shamu' kind of Sea World, but it's every bit as unique. It's a little square with loads of Western restaurants including the ever popular Starbucks. On the way to pick up my latte-of-the-day, I spotted my friend Jenn walking away. Can you guess what she, her husband and son were doing?!?!?

Okay, I'll give you a hint: Die. Hard. Steelers. Fans.

That's right! They were enjoying the SuperBowl and I had spotted Jenn during her half-time Starbucks run. A quick phone call and they welcomed Marcus and I to join them at their table for the 2nd half of the game. Kickoff took place at 7am (exchange those nachos and wings for some ham and eggs, please!). The bar that was showing the game just happens to be inside this big cruise ship that is beached at the end of Sea World. Legend has it that a canal was built, they floated this big ship in and then filled in the canal. Now the ship houses restaurants and a hotel. Crazy, but true.

I can probably count the number of times I've set foot inside a bar on one and a half hands. Therefore, I can count the times I have set foot inside a bar before noon on one finger. Suffice it to say, it was a bit surreal to find myself, sitting in a bar at 10am, in China, watching the Superbowl live. It was alot of fun, although my date (Marcus) seemed quite oblivious to the importance of the event in American culture. We'll have to work on that.

Look close! That blue circle is where I viewed the big game.

Marcus showing his appreciation of football. And America.

Enjoying a post-game brunch

So you were able to partake in Superbowl festivities after all! We still missed you here, and I'm sure Marcus would have had fun playing cars and dinosaurs:)
